Climate and Terrain
Tarangire's climate and terrain play a vital role in shaping its rich biodiversity:
- Short rains: November to December
- Long rains: March to May
- Dry seasons: June to October and January to February
The park’s altitude ranges between 900 and 1,250 meters, supporting varied vegetation such as open grasslands, acacia woodlands, swamps, and the iconic baobab forests. With annual rainfall between 650 and 700 mm, this ecosystem supports a wide variety of flora and fauna.
How to Get Here
By Road:
Tarangire is conveniently located 121 km from Arusha, about a 2-hour drive on a well-maintained tarmac road, making it an easy addition to any northern circuit safari itinerary.
By Air:
For those preferring air travel, you can fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport. Charter flights are available to Kuro Airstrip, located within the park, offering a seamless and scenic entry into the heart of Tarangire.
